As part of UNEA-7, David Songulashvili met with the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry of the Republic of Kenya, Lee Kinyanjui.

Within the framework of the Seventh Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7), Mr. David Songulashvili, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, and Mr. Lee Kinyanju, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry of the Republic of Kenya, discussed prospects for deepening agro-trade relations between the two countries.

Minister Songulashvili emphasized Georgia’s strategic location as a key transit hub between Europe and Asia, and the country’s growing role in developing a regional trade corridor. He also noted that ongoing governmental reforms facilitate business, enhance the investment climate, and create new opportunities for international partners.

During the meeting, the parties focused on the potential for agricultural cooperation. According to Minister Songulashvili, the results achieved in recent years towards the development of Georgia’s agricultural sector, including increased production and exports, expansion of export markets, and the adoption of modern technologies, create new opportunities for international partners.

“ Kenya is looking forward to deepening cooperation between Georgian and Kenyan entrepreneurs. We believe that the opportunities between our two countries will significantly expand. We look forward to working together to bring our peoples closer, deepen business relations, and promote cultural exchange,” stated Mr. Lee Kinianju.

During the meeting, both sides expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation and explore joint projects that will contribute to reinforcing bilateral partnership relations.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, Mr. Gia Macharadze, accompanied the Minister David Songulashvili at the meeting.
