David Songulashvili Summes up His Visit to the Republic of Kenya

“The seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly, where I had the opportunity to deliver remarks, is an important platform for countries to share their achievements and experiences in the environmental field. The key message, which is crucial to us and which we voiced from this tribune, is that reforms cannot be implemented and environmental goals cannot be achieved without peace. Preserving peace requires constant effort. Only peace ensures the stable development of each country and the achievement of its goals,” stated the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr David Songulashvili, while summarising his visit to the Republic of Kenya.

Minister Songulashvili delivered remarks at the seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7) in Nairobi, Kenya. The session took place at the headquarters of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and brought together Ministers of Environment and Climate Change from around 50 countries, including representatives of 130 countries and international organisations.

“Within the framework of the working visit to the Republic of Kenya, we held bilateral meetings with high-level UN officials as well as several Ministerial colleagues. We discussed the progress Georgia has made in the environmental sector. The high-ranking officials expressed steadfast support for the implementation of our reforms and ambitious plans,” stated Mr David  Songulashvili.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia paid a working visit to Nairobi, Kenya.
 

As part of the visit, Minister Songulashvili delivered remarks at the seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7). He also held meetings with:

Mrs Tatiana Molcean, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE); Mrs Inger Andersen, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP); Mr Mutahi Kagwe, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kenya; Mrs Deborah Mlongo Bara, Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry of the Republic of Kenya; Mr Lee Kinyanjui, the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry of the Republic of Kenya, Mr Jean-Luc Crucke, Minister for Mobility, Climate and Environmental Transition of Belgium.
