David Songulashvili participates in a session held within the framework of the Ambassadors’ Conference 2025

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, David Songulashvili, participated in a working session held within the framework of the Ambassadors’ Conference 2025, entitled “Trade, Investment, and Sustainable Development in the Context of Global Challenges.”

During the session, Mr David Songulashvili briefed the heads of Georgia’s diplomatic missions on the key reforms implemented within the Ministry and across its system.

According to the Minister, the new approaches lay a solid foundation for increasing international interest in attracting investments from various countries, expanding joint production initiatives, and strengthening trade relations.
Minister Songulashvili presented current data on the export of agri-food products, while also emphasising future opportunities in the trade sector, specificaly Georgian wine, which remains the country’s leading export product.

The Minister highlighted that while efforts to promote Georgian wine on the global market are already extensive, the support of Georgia’s diplomatic missions remains crucial, particularly in identifying and developing additional international platforms where Georgian wine, agricultural products, and gastronomic heritage can be effectively showcased.

The Minister also addressed the achievements and future vision related to the expansion of protected areas, the preservation of forest ecosystems, and the restoration of species.

Special attention was given to an initiative that is gradually banning the use of plastics that come into contact with food, while noting that the implementation of this initiative has already begun.

According to Mr  Songulashvili, the scale of environmental pollution caused by plastic is particularly alarming. Single-use plastics harm both human health and the environment, ultimately harming people themselves. Significant steps toward restricting plastic use have been taken in a relatively short period of time.

The Minister emphasised the importance of meetings in a similar format with the heads of Georgia’s diplomatic missions and the exchange of views, noting that this platform provides valuable opportunities to expand international cooperation through the effective use of diplomatic relations.
