Georgian Apples in a Global Context: Development Opportunities
In the past decade, Georgia's apple production and exports have grown. In 2025, exports reached 20.6 thousand tonnes, valued at USD 14 million. The average export price also increased.Both increased production and enhancements in storage and processing infrastructure have driven this achievement, improving quality and providing a more consistent supply.
In light of global trends, export diversification represents a key prerequisite for the sector’s sustainable development. Particularly promising markets for Georgian apples include the Middle East (Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates), North Africa (Egypt), India, and the countries of Central Asia, offering tangible opportunities for export diversification.
Coordinated efforts between the public and private sectors, focused on technological advancement, compliance with quality standards, and the expansion into new markets, create a solid foundation for the successful positioning of Georgian apples in international markets.
