Public discussion on the draft law on "Water Resources Management" held at the USAID / G4G Conference Hall

The main purpose of the Law of Georgia on ‘’Water Resources Management’’ is to establish a legal basis for protection and sustainable use of various water resources to create a safe environment for human life and health and which will be in line with the principles of Integrated Water Resources Management.The changes in water resources management have not been implemented since 1997, therefore, underground and coastal waters were left without any regulations. The new law will ensure the establishment of a modern system of water resources management and prevent deterioration of the quality of surface and groundwaters, it will provide effective protection of water resources to improve their condition and will avoid and discharge pollutants into the water bodies.The new law will benefit both state, population and business sector, the legal rights / interests of natural persons and legal entities will be protected in the field of water protection and consumption; The representatives of different Ministries, Subordinate Institutions and Agencies of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee of Parliament, Higher Educational Institutions and NGOs attended the public discussion on the draft law.
