Levan Davitashvili Participated in the Conference on “”Transboundary Animal Diseases in Europe"

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili paid a visit to Brussels, where he participated in the high-level conference "Transboundary Animal Diseases in Europe".
The regional policy on transboundary animal diseases was discussed at the conference. The participants underlined the importance of taking coordinated actions against diseases such as: pig disease, bird flu, nodular dermatitis, rabies virus etc.
Under the frame of the conference, Levan Davitashvili held a meeting with the European Commissioner Vytenis Andriukaitis who is in charge for health and food safety, sanitary and phytosanitary related issues in the EU. At the meeting the two sides addressed issues of necessity of cooperation and coordination for maintaining a high level of animal health, protecting the sector against transboundary and infectious diseases.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili underlined the role of international cooperation for sustainable animal production and noted, that Georgia is ready to actively cooperate with the European Union and other countries in this direction. European Commissioner expressed his wish to give Georgian side full support in the ongoing and future activities to take against the transboundary animal diseases.
