Georgia joins the campaign "Clean Up the World"

On September 15, 2018  millions of people around the world join the campaign "Clean Up the World". Georgia joins the event as well. On September 15 and 16, large-scale cleaning activities will be held in all municipalities across Georgia.This year's campaign is focused on ending plastic pollution!
The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Nodar Kereselidze underlined  the importance of raising awareness and involvement of population in similar campaigns. Georgia joins the campaign ‘’ Clean up the world " . The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, together with partner organizations, is conducting large-scale actions in all regions of Georgia. Raising environmental awareness and responsibility in population, as well as their engagement in similar campaigns is of utmost importance, therefore, understanding, protecting and taking resposibility for the environment is the duty of every citizen of Georgia’’ - "said Nodar Kereselidze.
Georgia to participate in the campaign "Clean Up the World" is very important -was stressed by the Head of International Development Cooperation Agency, Molly Lien.
" Swedish Government supports Georgia in implementing this project. Similar campaigns are held in Sweden as well. I am proud that many environmental organizations in Georgia are actively involved in the above mentioned event "said Molly Lyne
Nino Chkhobadze, co-chair of the "Greens Movement of Georgia" adressed citizens and encouraged them to engage in the activities, which will be held  throughout the country on September 15-16.
The "Clean Up World" campaign was established in 1992 by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and embraces more than 140 countries. Georgia joined the campaign in 2010 and takes 121st place in the list.
The campaign is supported by the Government of Sweden and the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture and is initiated by Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth-Georgia.
The Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, International Campaign ‘’Let's Do IT’’, Member Organization of Georgia’s National Platform "Caucasus Youth Union" and CENN Program "Waste Management Technology in Regions", Phase II (WMTR) II) supported by USAID are engaged in the campaign.
The cleaning activities will be organized by the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth, regional coordinators and local governments.
