28th Conference of OIE European Regional Commission is held in Tbilisi
The 28th Conference of the World Health Organization (OIE) is underway in Tbilisi. The conference was opened by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili and General Director of the World Health Organization (OIE), Monique Eloit.
"We actively cooperate with the World Health Organization, which plays a significant and contributory role in animal health and welfare issues around the world. Georgia hosts such a representative conference for the first time. This fact corroborates the progress made by our Country in animal health protection.Â
This is an important prerequisite to implement an export of animal origin to many countries "said Levan Davitashvili.
OIE 53 member countries and 119 representatives of international organizations participate in the event. Within the frame of the conference the delegates discuss global challenges faced by the region, integrated approaches, risk prevention and supervision activities.
The conference is implemented with the financial support of the EU, comprehensive institutional development (CIB) program and FAO project "Development of Animal Identification and Registration System in Georgia" (NAITS).
