Ongoing activities against the Asian stink bug have been discussed by sides, who also noted, that all measures and activities are taken under the Action Plan. Furthermore, the involvement of leading entomologists together with Georgian scientists is very important in the overwhelming process of developing strategy to combat against the brown marmorated stink bug.
A well-designed monitoring system was created along with performance plans and measures. The population of pest has been significantly reduced as a result of long term experience shared by American partners to Georgian counterparts.
Greg Krawczyk is visiting Georgia for the third time with the initiative of the National Food Agency and support of the USAID / REAP.
"We will agree with necessary activities to take for 2019 and help Georgian farmers to tackle the problem related to a stink bug. Asian Stink Bug is a pest that couldn’t be destroyed in a year or two. I hope we together will develop methods to combat the dangerous pest. "said Greg Krawczyk. Within the visit to Georgia, an American scientist will arrive in the regions of western Georgia to meet farmers and get familiar with the situation.
Anti-pest measures are underway in accordance with the state strategy to fight against the brown marmorated stink bug. By this time, chemical treatment activities through using thermal fog technology and cold sprays are taken on 573 thousand hectares of land in Samegrelo, Guria, Imereti and Adjara regions.
