Levan Davitashvili hosted the Delegation of the European Parliament
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili met with the European Parliament delegation.The delegation was headed by the Vice Chair of the European Parliament, Sajjad Karim.
At the meeting, Levan Davitashvili introduced the members of the European Parliament with the structure and priorities of the consolidated Ministry and stressed the importance of the development of the green economy concept. The Minister thanked the Members of the European Parliament for their support and noted that Georgia’s National agenda directly responds to the implementation of the Association Agreement between Georgia and the European Union.
According to the Minister, the environmental direction together with the rural development is a priority for the country. The Minister introduced guests with the reform implemented in the forest sector. Discussions also included climate change, sustainable development of forest resources, water resources management and waste management related issues. Levan Davitashvili highlighted rural development strategy and made a focus on state agricultural development programs.
As Sajjad Karim stated, Georgia has a broader vision on environmental and rural development, he expressed willingness to provide a support and wished the Minister a success in his future endeavours.
