Levan Davitashvili attended the conference

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili attended the conference "Regional Development Policy in Georgia". At the conference, the representatives of the governmental and non-governmental sector, as well as international organizations highlighted " Regional Development Program 2018-2021 in Georgia’’. Levan Davitashvili stressed the importance of the regional development program and rural development policy of Georgia. The Minister made a statement about the importance and necessity of the EU's support to promote agricultural development in Georgia.
" A large majority of Georgia's population about 40 % lives in rural areas. Consequently, improvement of their living conditions is closely linked with economic activities: such as farm activities, processing of agricultural products, or other economic activities that will drive and improve living standards for those living in rural areas.
The Rural Development Strategy is closely linked with the Regional Development Strategy. Our aim is to make the process of rural development quick and irreversible by means of pursuing the right policy "said Levan Davitashvili.
The conference was organized by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, "EU for Georgia" and German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
