The Ministry hosted a meeting with livestock farmers to discuss the development of cattle farming
The Deputies of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Lasha Avaliani and Mr. Lasha Dolidze, convened a meeting with cattle farmers, meat importers, and distributors to address cattle farming operations and related issues.
During the meeting, participants discussed key challenges facing the sector, the current situation in domestic and export markets, prospects for the development of state support programs, the promotion of artificial insemination, access to pastures, and the improvement of breed diversity.
The parties focused on the shortage of beef and live young cattle, as well as challenges related to the supply of live livestock.
According to Deputy Avaliani, state support for the livestock sector will continue within the government programs. Existing programs are expected to be modernized and further tailored to farmers’ needs.
"Based on the information received from sector representatives, the Ministry will initiate the development of targeted measures to strengthen the industry. We will continue to engage stakeholders on a regular basis and gather their views and positions. This ongoing consultation process will ensure that future decisions are coordinated in advance and closely aligned with the sector’s priorities and long-term interests’’, stated Mr. Lasha Avaliani.
Farmers emphasized the necessity of developing small-scale farming enterprises, noting that state support is critically important in this area.
The Head of the National Food Agency, Mr. Giorgi Iakobashvili, along with representatives of the relevant departments, attended the meeting.
