Nino Tandilashvili: “Only coordinated cooperation between the government, the private sector, and society enables us to effectively respond to contemporary environmental challenges.”
Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili, First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, attended the event “Climate Change and Green Transition: Youth Leadership for a Sustainable Future” at the Business and Technology University (BTU).
In her remarks, Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili underscored the urgency of tackling climate change, emphasising that today’s environmental challenges require coordinated action from the government, the private sector, and society, with a particular focus on youth engagement.
According to the First Deputy Minister, the government is actively implementing policies for climate change mitigation and adaptation, based on both international commitments and national strategic documents.
“Today, climate change represents one of the most serious challenges, directly impacting the lives of every citizen. That is why raising public awareness, especially among young people, is crucial. Only coordinated efforts of the government, the private sector, and society enable us to effectively respond to contemporary environmental challenges,” Mrs. Tandilashvili stated.
The event aimed to increase young people’s awareness of climate change challenges and promote their active participation.
The event was held with the support of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Embassy of Italy in Georgia.
