Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili Meets the World Bank Regional Director, Rolande Pryce.

The Deputy Minister Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili hosted the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, Mrs. Rolande Pryce.

During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for future cooperation.

Mr. Pavliashvili thanked the World Bank for its long-standing support in agriculture and environmental protection, while emphasizing the importance of continued assistance in waste management.

"Proper waste management remains a top priority. The country has implemented a Waste Management Code and developed both a National Waste Management Strategy and an accompanying Action Plan. Georgia has joined the High Ambition Coalition and the 'Zero Waste' initiative. At this stage, one of the key challenges is the development of new waste disposal facilities, where support from international partners is crucial," Mr. Pavliashvili stated.

The Deputy Minister stated that existing landfills are nearing the end of their operational lifespan, outlining the urgent need to establish new, modern facilities for non-hazardous waste disposal.

Mrs. Rolande Pryce noted that the World Bank is ready to support and facilitate the development of priority areas in the country.

The Heads of the relevant Departments and services of the Ministry attended the meeting.
