David Songulashvili: “No single allegation, threat, or act of defamation directed at those who conscientiously and professionally perform their duties will go unanswered.”
“The program for managing the overpopulation of domestic animals has been successfully underway for a year and represents one of the most humane models, based on international best practices,” stated Mr. David Songulashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.According to the Minister, during this period, the program has already delivered significant results in improving animal welfare and ensuring public safety, which is essential for the country and society.
‘’The mentioned program aims to strike a balance: protecting and enhancing animal welfare through the most humane methods, while simultaneously ensuring public safety and safeguarding human health.
Unfortunately, recent events show that some statements and campaigns against the program are not based on factual evidence. These actions are provoked by certain political groups seeking to exploit public sentiment for their own political goals. Such actions severely impede the effective implementation of the program and harm both the public interest and efforts to protect animals.
At the same time, we would emphasize that no allegation, threat, or defamation directed at individuals who conscientiously and professionally perform their duties will go unanswered. Moreover, every case of defamation will be thoroughly investigated, and anyone involved in deliberate disinformation or intimidation will be held accountable under the law.
We will continue implementing the program while safeguarding public interest, security, and humane values,” stated Mr. David Songulashvili.
