David Songulashvili: “Actually, we have tailored programs for all categories of farmers, ensuring full alignment with current market needs.
“Agriculture, as a sector and strategic direction, has received particular attention and was defined as a state priority since the Georgian Dream party came to power. From that point onward, efforts to strengthen the agricultural sector began,” stated the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr David Songulashvili.
While speaking about the vision for the development of the agricultural sector, the Minister noted that the initial phase has been completed and a new stage is now beginning.
“It was essential to implement the programs that have enabled us to reach this stage and make the decisions we are making today. The period we have gone through has created the foundation for transitioning to a new phase. The commercialisation of agriculture is crucial for producing competitive products, substituting imports, and facilitating access to export markets.
In this process, quality and price competitiveness are key factors, though not the only ones.
Strengthening family farms is also part of the program, and additional work is underway in this direction. A presentation on this component will be held in the near future. This means that we effectively have tailored programs for every type of farmer, fully addressing and meeting current market demand,” said Mr David Songulashvili.
