Minister visited an intensive apple garden in Gori District

Under the frame of the project "Plant the Future", Ltd. Tiriponi Gardens" has planted an intensive fruit garden in the village Kvarkheti, Gori district. The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili  together with the Governor of Shida Kartli region, Giorgi Khojevinashvili visited intensive gardens and acquinted with the ongoing activities - mechanical pruning, cutting off the roots under the ground, anti-hail net opening etc. 
"New gardens built in Kvarkheti village are a clear example of the fact, that we pursue a right  agricultural policy. We would like to have competitive, modern farms producing high quality products which will be established into the new markets. By means of modern technologies "Tirifoni Gardens" received the best quality harvest "-said Levan Davitashvili.
In 2015, Tirifoni Gardens was engaged in the program, furthermore, it was awarded by a state subsidy amounting to 100,000 GEL for planting an intensive garden on 27 hectares of agricultural land.The company also benefited from preferential agro-credit and spent 2,000,000 for arranging hail protection nets, supporting poles, drip irrigation system. The investment for planting a garden totaled to 4,700,000 gel. This year the first harvest of apples is already taken.
Shida-Kartli Governor, Giorgi Khojevanishvili stated, that agricultural sector which is in compliance with an international standard contributes to the economic growth of the country. It is noteworthy, that "Tirifoni Gardens" is the first company that under the state program has received an internationally recognized set of farming standards specific to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). As of July 31, 2018, under the frame of the project "Plant the Future", planting of fruit trees is financed on 5,546 hectares across Georgia. The state funding amounts to 29,304,613 million gel. Out of this, planting of fruit trees is financed already on 1,674 hectares of land in Kartli region.
