David Songulashvili: “Previously, the programs were fragmented; now they are being consolidated and unified.”

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr David Songulashvili, spoke about the State Agro-Co-Financing Program, outlining the changes shaping its new approach.

“Previously, the programs were fragmented; now they are being consolidated and unified. For example, when a farmer wanted to plant an orchard, they had to submit separate applications under the ‘Plant the Future’ program, as well as for drip irrigation systems and anti-hail netting, among other components. In other words, they had to obtain funding separately for each element of a single integrated project. Now the project has been streamlined. A farmer can submit a single application covering all components and specify the type of support required in each area,” said Mr Songulashvili.

The Minister also highlighted the importance of the Farmer Registry, noting that it is part of the ongoing reform.

“The registry will enable us to identify farmers properly. It will allow us to analyse their individual needs and make evidence-based decisions, which is particularly important today,” he stated.
