David Songulashvili: “Recent data show that the agricultural insurance program is developing, with an increase in the number of insured beneficiaries, insured areas, and the value of insured crops.”

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr David Songulashvili, participated in an event dedicated to Insurance Day of Georgia.

In his welcoming remarks, the Minister highlighted the importance of agricultural insurance, noting that it represents one of the key instruments in ensuring the sustainable development of the agricultural sector.

“Recent data show that the agricultural insurance program is developing, with an increase in the number of insured beneficiaries, insured areas, and the value of insured crops. Thousands of farmers already trust this system, which means we are moving in the right direction.

However, the process is also accompanied by challenges, including alignment with compensation expectations and transparency in the assessment process. The role of the state in this regard is clear: our objective is to raise awareness, strengthen trust in the system, and make it more flexible and accessible.

We are working to ensure that farmers have the opportunity to fully insure their risks, which will support their continuous development and ultimately contribute to the sustainable economic growth of the country,” said Mr David Songulashvili.

The event organised by the Insurance State Supervision Service of Georgia was attended by representatives of the executive and legislative branches, the insurance sector and regulatory bodies, as well as industry experts and other stakeholders.
