David Songulashvili: “The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture is implementing vital reforms in viticulture, winemaking, and other sectors.”

According to the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr David Songulashvili, several key factors must be taken into account to ensure the production of high-quality wine.

“If we want Georgian wine to be associated with high quality, it is insufficient to control only the quality of the final product or determine its chemical composition; the preceding stages are equally important. We have intensified inspections of the domestic market and are monitoring bulk wine, where, unfortunately, unfair practices persist. Results achievable in one or two years are often expected to take a decade. This indicates that challenges remain,” Mr David Songulashvili stated.

As the Minister noted, if Georgia is to be prepared to address global challenges, appropriate decisions must be taken.

“Without vineyards that meet high standards, it is impossible to produce quality wine. Ultimately, our goal is for Georgian wine to be associated with high quality,” the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture stated.
