Within the Framework of the FAO Regional Conference, Lasha Dolidze Holds a Working Meeting with the Italian Delegation.

 Within the 35th Session of the FAO Regional Conference for Europe and Central Asia in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr Lasha Dolidze,  met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr Guido De Sanctis, and Deputy Permanent Representative of the Italian Republic to FAO, Mr Filippo Lonardo.

 

During the meeting, the parties discussed current and future areas of cooperation between Georgia and Italy in agriculture and the agri-food sector. 



 Particular attention was devoted to advancing sustainable agri-food systems, promoting the adoption of modern technologies and innovative approaches, and supporting the agricultural sector’s adaptation and long-term development in the face of climate change.



 The discussion also focused on opportunities to deepen cooperation and exchange experiences in irrigation and efficient water resources management. The parties underscored the importance of sharing practical knowledge, technical expertise, and best practices.



Mr Lasha Dolidze highlighted the ongoing reforms in Georgia’s agricultural sector, noting that one of the Ministry’s key priorities is to develop competitive, environmentally sustainable, and modern agri-food systems. He further emphasised that cooperation with international partners plays a crucial role in advancing the sector and fully realising the country’s agricultural potential.

 

The Italian side positively assessed the existing cooperation with Georgia and expressed readiness to continue active dialogue and collaboration both bilaterally and within the framework of FAO.

 

The meeting, held as part of the 35th FAO Regional Conference for Europe and Central Asia, aimed to strengthen regional cooperation on agriculture, food security, and climate change issues.
