The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, David Songulashvili, paid a working visit to France

During the official visit to Paris, the Minister participated in the 93rd General Session of the World Organisation for Animal Health and a panel discussion. In his remarks, the Minister emphasised the importance of strengthening veterinary systems. In the panel discussion, he highlighted the results of ongoing and implemented measures in veterinary medicine in Georgia.

“We are pleased to have had the opportunity to meet with the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, and we would also like to express our gratitude for accepting our invitation. Moreover, it was crucial for us to hear the Minister’s vision on animal health issues and investments in this sector. Raising the issue of animal health at the political level, along with the Minister’s participation in this meeting, is of critical importance to us and clearly underscores the high priority accorded to this agenda,” noted the Director General of the World Organisation for Animal Health, Mrs Emmanuelle Soubeyran.

Within the framework of the 93rd General Session of the World Organisation for Animal Health, the Minister held meetings with the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of the Kingdom of Spain, Mr Luis Planas Puchades, and the Minister of Agriculture of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mr Saeb Khresat. The Counterpart Ministers discussed current areas of cooperation between the countries and prospects for the future.

Minister Songulashvili also held discussions on the importance of the issues addressed during the WOAH General Session and opportunities for bilateral cooperation with the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry of the French Republic, Mrs Annie Genevard, the Minister of Municipalities and Agriculture of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mr Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, and the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr Aidarbek Saparov.

Deputy Minister, Mr Lasha Avaliani, Head of the National Food Agency of Georgia, Mr Giorgi Iakobashvili, and Head of the International Relations and EU Integration Department of the Ministry, Mr Davit Chitaishvili, accompanied the Minister at the meetings.
