Solomon Pavliashvili Participates in the Fourth High-Level International Conference “Water for Sustainable Development 2018–2028” in Dushanbe
The Delegation from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, led by Deputy Minister Mr Solomon Pavliashvili, participated in the Fourth High-Level International Conference “Water for Sustainable Development 2018–2028”, in Dushanbe, the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The conference served as an important platform for discussions on the sustainable management of water resources, transboundary cooperation, climate change adaptation, and food security.
In his remarks, Mr Solomon Pavliashvili emphasised the critical importance of effective and responsible water resource management, particularly in the context of climate change and emerging regional challenges.
“An important milestone for Georgia was the adoption of the Law on Water Resources Management 2023, aiming to adopt the principles of integrated water resources management throughout the country. At the same time, Georgia is actively advancing the modernisation of irrigation systems and the implementation of water-saving technologies. Moreover, ensuring sustainable development requires not only modern infrastructure, but also strengthening international cooperation, the exchange of knowledge and experience, and the development of strong partnerships,” Mr Solomon Pavliashvili stated.
Notably, the conference contributes to implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation, providing an important preparatory platform for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference.
