David Songulashvili Hosts the Vice Prime Minister of Belarus and the FAO Director-General at the Georgian Pavilion at Belagro 2026 in Minsk

As part of his official visit to the Republic of Belarus, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr David Songulashvili, attended the opening ceremony of the international exhibition Belagro 2026 in Minsk.

At the Georgian Pavilion showcased at Belagro 2026, Minister Songulashvili hosted the Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Mr Yuri Shuleiko, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus, Mr Yuri Gorlov, and the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), Mr Qu Dongyu.

“This year, Georgian products are being presented for the first time at the international exhibition ‘Belagro 2026’, which is one of the largest exhibitions of its kind. The Georgian pavilion stands out for the high number of visitors, which clearly reflects a strong interest in Georgian products. This growing interest is expected to translate into concrete partnerships and new export agreements in the future, which will, in turn, contribute to the expansion of agri-food production, the growth of exports, and the strengthening of the country’s economy,” said Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr David Songulashvili.

According to Mr Alexander Khvtisiashvili, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, the Belarusian market offers significant opportunities for Georgian exports and should be utilised to the fullest.

“It is of great importance for Georgia to further develop relations with partner countries based on mutual respect and shared interests. Visits and high-level engagements of this kind contribute substantially to achieving this objective. At the same time, the Belarusian market presents considerable opportunities for Georgian exporters, and our goal is to make the most effective use of this potential,” said Deputy Minister Alexander Khvtisiashvili.

The Georgian Pavilion at Belagro 2026 was organised with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, in cooperation with the Rural Development Agency and the National Wine Agency. Georgian wine producers and agri-food companies participated in the exhibition, presenting a diverse range of products to international visitors and industry representatives.

Mr Alexander Khvtisiashvili, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia; Mr Lasha Dolidze, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture; Mr Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency; Mr Giorgi Iakobashvili, Head of the National Food Agency; Mr Giorgi Avaliani, Deputy Director of the Rural Development Agency; Mr Giorgi Saganelidze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Belarus; and Mr Nikolai Rogashchuk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Georgia, accompanied the Minister Songulashvili at the opening ceremony of the event.
