David Songulashvili Visits Sabudara Poultry Farm in Gardabani Municipality
As part of his working visit to the Kvemo Kartli region, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr David Songulashvili, visited the poultry farm Sabudara LLC in the village of Krtsanisi, Gardabani Municipality.During the visit, the Minister toured the farm’s infrastructure and reviewed its ongoing operations, including the rearing of broiler breeder flocks and the production of hatching eggs.
“We are reviewing the operations of enterprises established through state support programs. The development of such businesses is particularly important, as they create additional employment opportunities, establish complete value chains—from primary production to the final product—expand export opportunities, and ultimately contribute to the country’s economic growth and development,” said Mr David Songulashvili.
Sabudara LLC is a beneficiary of the Rural Development Agency. The enterprise has an annual production capacity of 7 million hatching eggs. The company supplies day-old breeding chickens of the Aviagen, Bábolna TETRA, and Lohmann Tierzucht breeds throughout the South Caucasus region. In addition, it provides customers with veterinary medicines, prepared feed, and feed concentrates required for chicken rearing.
The company’s products are supplied to the domestic market and exported to Azerbaijan and Armenia. The enterprise employs 60 local residents.
Over the years, the company has benefited from the state-supported Preferential Agrocredit Program, which has supported the expansion and development of its operations.
The State Representative of Kvemo Kartli, Mr Ilia Jalaghania; Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr Lasha Avaliani; and Head of the National Food Agency, Mr Giorgi Iakobashvili, also accompanied the Minister.
Under the Preferential Agrocredit Program, more than 2,400 loans worth over GEL 269 million have been issued nationwide by commercial banks to support the establishment and development of poultry farms, while co-financing from the Rural Development Agency has exceeded GEL 63 million. In the Kvemo Kartli region alone, 235 loans worth GEL 72 million have been issued, with Agency co-financing exceeding GEL 18 million.
As part of his regional visit, Minister Songulashvili will visit the high-tech animal feed manufacturing facility Nutrimax in Ponichala, inaugurate the new regional office of the National Food Agency in Marneuli, and inspect a state-supported greenhouse enterprise in the village of Damia-Geurarkh.
Meetings with local farmers are also planned to discuss local needs, challenges, and key issues related to the development of the agricultural sector across the country.
