David Songulashvili: “Our goal is to provide maximum support to farmers and promote the development of local production.”

As part of his working visit to the Kvemo Kartli region, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr David Songulashvili, met with local farmers to discuss the challenges in the agricultural sector, ongoing state programmes, and prospects for sectoral development.

The discussion focused on supporting farmers, boosting local production, and improving access to modern agricultural technologies.

“Field visits and direct communication with farmers are particularly important. In the Kvemo Kartli region, we held meetings with local farmers and presented new programmes developed by the Ministry. Our goal is to provide maximum support to farmers, promote the development of local production, and strengthen the processing sector. It is important to ensure that the entire production chain is fully established—from primary production to processing. This allows us, on the one hand, to reduce dependence on imports and, on the other hand, to create competitive export-oriented products. We continue supporting farmers in this direction, which ultimately serves the strengthening and development of the country’s economy,” said Mr David Songulashvili.

The State Representative in the Kvemo Kartli region, Mr Ilia Jalaghania; Member of Parliament for Marneuli, Mr Zaur Dargali; Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr Lasha Avaliani; Head of the National Food Agency, Mr Giorgi Iakobashvili; and representatives of local self-government attended the meetings.
