David Songulashvili: “Field visits are particularly important, as they provide an opportunity to directly understand the needs of local farmers, entrepreneurs, and sector representatives”
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr David Songulashvili, carried out a working visit to the Kvemo Kartli region, where he inspected state-supported agro-enterprises and met with farmers.“Field visits are particularly important, as they allow us to directly understand the needs of local farmers, entrepreneurs, and sector representatives.
One of the Ministry’s key priorities is both supporting farmers and developing the full production cycle within the agricultural sector. It is essential to ensure that the entire value chain is properly established, from primary production to processing. This creates added value, strengthens local production, helps substitute imports, and builds export potential.
The State programmes are designed to provide maximum support to farmers and agricultural enterprises, ultimately contributing to economic growth and national development. The government continues to support farmers and develop regional infrastructure, ensuring that workers have suitable conditions for their activities and can fully participate in sectoral development, said Mr David Songulashvili.
During his working visit to Kvemo Kartli, the Minister visited the winery “Marnaveli,” the poultry farm “Sabudara,” the high-tech compound feed production facility “Nutrimax,” and the greenhouse farm located in the village of Damia-Geurarkhi. On-site, he was briefed on production processes, implemented investments, and enterprise development plans.
As part of the visit, Mr David Songulashvili also opened a new regional office of the National Food Agency in Marneuli, which will provide employees with an improved working environment and citizens with enhanced services.
The Minister also met with local farmers, listened to their needs and challenges, and discussed opportunities for agricultural development and state support programmes aimed at strengthening local production, developing the processing sector, and increasing the competitiveness of Georgian products.
