David Songulashvili Meets with the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan

As part of his official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr David Songulashvili, met with the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr Qurbon Hakimzoda.

 

The parties discussed ways to deepen cooperation between Georgia and Tajikistan in the agricultural sector.

 

“Georgia and Tajikistan have strong potential for agricultural cooperation. We are ready to share our experience in advancing the agrarian sector and supporting farmers. Moreover, I am confident that, through joint efforts, we can launch mutually beneficial projects and take our cooperation to a new level,” stated Mr David Songulashvili.

 

The discussion also focused on climate-smart agriculture, efficient water resource management, rural development policy, and the strengthening of cooperation among research institutions.

 

 Agri-food trade between Georgia and Tajikistan continues a positive growth trend. In 2025, bilateral trade turnover reached USD 7.3 million, including USD 6.5 million in exports and USD 778,000 in imports. Georgia’s principal agri-food exports to Tajikistan include non-alcoholic carbonated beverages, mineral and fresh water, food additives, natural grape wines, and other agricultural products.

 

Minister David Songulashvili is visiting the Republic of Tajikistan together with Georgia’s Prime Minister, Mr Irakli Kobakhidze, and members of the Georgian Government Delegation.
