Greg Krawczyk has evaluated measures taken against the Asian Stink Bug
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili hosted Greg Krawczyk, Professor of the University of Pennsylvania. At the meeting, the professor evaluated measures taken against the Asian Stink Bug in western Georgia. As Greg Krachuk pointed out, in terms of fighting against the invasive pests, this year looks much better compared to 2017.
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture thanked the expert for sharing experience and recommendations to Georgian side and highlighted the importance of USAID / REAP support in the fight against the stink bug invasion.
This year Georgian population is more informed and subsequently better results are achieved than in the previous year -was noted by Greg Krawczyk. The professor positively evaluated measures taken by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture against the brown marmorated stink bug.
"I paid a three-day visit to Western Georgia. It is obvious that farmers who carry out all necessary activities in their own gardens will get the best results " declared the proffessor.
The sides discussed activities taken by the coordination center and stressed, that Georgian specialists besides carrying out daily measures try to develop new approaches and technics against the dangerous pest and further use these technics in a reasonable manner.Â
The Deputy Minister, Giorgi Khanishvili and the Heads of National Food Agency attended the meeting held at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
