David Songulashvili Visits Labara Winery in Baghdati Municipality

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture David Songulashvili visited Labara Winery in Vartsikhe, Baghdati Municipality, and reviewed the company’s operations.

“We are implementing an important reform to advance Georgia’s viticulture and winemaking sector and promote high-quality Georgian wine. Moreover, we aim to make Georgian wine synonymous with excellence. Small and medium-sized wineries are a particularly important segment of the industry. We provide targeted support to help them produce high-quality wines, develop wine tourism, and expand export markets, all essential to the sustainable development of the wine sector,” said Songulashvili.

LLC Labara is a wine-producing company operating in Baghdati Municipality, with an annual production capacity of 15,000 bottles. The winery employs 30 people. Its products are sold on the domestic market and exported to destinations across Europe, Asia, and the United States.

The company is a beneficiary of the Rural Development Agency, which repeatedly benefited from the Preferential Agrocredit program.

Under the Preferential Agrocredit program, commercial banks have issued GEL 7.4 million in preferential agricultural loans for wine production in the Imereti region, while co-financing provided by the Rural Development Agency amounts to GEL 2.2 million.

The Deputies of the Minister, Mr Lasha Avaliani and Mr Giorgi Tskrialashvili, the Head of the National Food Agency, Mr Giorgi Iakobashvili, the Director of the Rural Development Agency, Mr Zurab Gozalishvili, and representatives of the local authorities accompanied the Minister.
