David Songulashvili: “Through various state support programs, we continue to promote the establishment of new enterprises to further strengthen the regions”

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Mr David Songulashvili visited the Imereti region, where he reviewed the operations of enterprises and agricultural businesses established with state support.

“It is extremely important to visit the regions and observe firsthand the activities of both primary production and processing enterprises. Aquaculture deserves particular attention, as it is one of the priority sectors of Georgia’s agriculture sector, and it is essential to ensure that the agrarian sector continues to develop rapidly.

State-supported processing enterprises operating in the region enable local production, which in turn contributes to the economic development of both the region and the country. Through various support programs, the Ministry continues to promote production and facilitate the establishment of new enterprises, helping to strengthen regional economies further,” said Mr Songulashvili.

The Minister also highlighted the upgraded infrastructure of the Ministry’s regional offices, noting that providing employees with modern and dignified working conditions remains one of the Ministry’s key priorities.

“Today, we opened the new regional office of the National Agency of Mineral Resources. Creating modern, well-equipped workplaces for our employees is one of the Ministry’s priority areas, enabling them to carry out their responsibilities and fulfil their duties effectively,” Mr Songulashvili stated.

As part of his visit to the Imereti region, Minister Songulashvili observed the blueberry harvesting and post-harvest preparation process at a blueberry orchard in the village of Maghlaki, Tskaltubo Municipality. He also toured the greenhouse enterprise “Herbia” in Tskaltubo, the plant-based raw materials processing company “Pharkoni” and ready-to-cook food manufacturer “Kulinari” in Kutaisi, an aquaculture farm in the village of Geguti, and the wine cellar “Labara” in Baghdati Municipality. In addition, the Minister officially opened the new regional office of the National Agency of Mineral Resources in Kutaisi.
