Government Delays Ban on Single-Use Plastic Food Containers and Cups for Food Service Establishments.
Amendments have been introduced to the Government of Georgia's Resolution No. 304 of June 8, 2022, "Technical Regulation on Plastic Materials and Articles Intended to Come into Contact with Food."
Under the amendments, the entry into force of the prohibition on food service establishments supplying prepared food in single-use plastic food containers and plastic cups has been postponed.
The new implementation dates are as follows:
January 1, 2027 – prohibition on the use of single-use plastic food containers for supplying prepared food;
July 1, 2027 – prohibition on the use of single-use plastic cups for supplying prepared food and beverages.
