The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Establishes the Information Technology, Environmental and Agro Services Agency
Under the Resolution of the Government of Georgia, a new Legal Entity of Public Law (LEPL), the Information Technology, Environmental and Agro Services Agency, has been established within the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. The Agency has been established through the integration of the Ministry’s centralized information technology management, call center operations, and service development functions, with the objective of creating a unified strategic vision and an integrated governance framework for information technologies, customer service delivery, and the advancement of digital public services.
The Agency is responsible for managing information technologies, digital transformation, data center operations, and network infrastructure across the Ministry, its subordinate institutions, and the private legal entities under the Ministry's administration. In addition, it will support the development and administration of software solutions, oversee geospatial information systems (GIS) and spatial data management, conduct aerial surveying and monitoring activities, develop public services and standardize their delivery processes, provide telephone-based customer support and technical assistance, and facilitate the creation and continuous advancement of a unified digital and technological ecosystem throughout the Ministry system.
The establishment of the Agency will significantly reduce duplication of functions, accelerate decision-making, promote more efficient and rational use of budgetary resources, optimize operational costs, and further strengthen the delivery of citizen-centered public services.
By consolidating these functions within a single organizational structure, the Agency will serve as a central information hub, enabling the integrated management of data, digital services, technological infrastructure, and user requests. This approach will support the advancement of a modern, efficient, and unified model of digital governance across the Ministry system.
The Information Technology, Environmental and Agro Services Agency will be headed by Mr Tsotne Buchukuri, who previously served as Head of the Information Technology Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture prior to the establishment of the Agency.
