David Songulashvili: “Ensuring the proper storage of high-quality agricultural products and their uninterrupted supply to the market is just as important as producing them.”

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr. David Songulashvili, visited the AgroClub Georgia cold storage facility in the village of Dzevera, Gori Municipality, established with the support of the Rural Development Agency.

 

During the visit, the Minister reviewed the company's operations, inspected the facility's modern cold storage infrastructure, and met with the company's representatives to discuss issues related to the storage and marketing of fruit and vegetables.

  

“The development of modern cold storage infrastructure is one of the key prerequisites for strengthening the agri-food sector. Ensuring the proper storage of high-quality agricultural products and their uninterrupted supply to the market is just as important as producing them. Therefore, it is our priority to support projects that contribute both to the development of agri-food infrastructure and to enhanced production efficiency, providing Georgian farmers with greater opportunities to generate economic benefits,” stated Minister Songulashvili.

 

AgroClub Georgia has been a beneficiary of the Rural Development Agency since 2023. Moreover, in 2023, the company received GEL 350,000 to establish its cold storage facility as part of the Co-financing Project for Processing and Storage Enterprises.

 

The company also benefited from the Preferential Agro Credit Program, receiving financing in 2023 and 2025 to further develop its cold storage operations.

 

In 2025, under the Technical Assistance Project, AgroClub Georgia received GEL 12,000 to support the implementation and certification of the international HACCP and ISO standards.

 

Through state support programs, the company has successfully established a modern cold storage facility and aligned its production processes with internationally recognized standards.

 

Mr. Simon Guledani, State Representative of the Shida Kartli region; Mr. Lasha Avaliani, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture; Mr. Giorgi Iakobashvili, Head of the National Food Agency; and representatives of the local authorities accompanied the Minister.
