David Songulashvili: “Modern, state-of-the-art local production creates new opportunities for farmers”
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr. David Songulashvili, along with the State Representative of Shida Kartli region, Mr. Simon Guledani, visited ‘’Agro Universal Georgia’’ in the village of Karaleti, Gori Municipality, where high-ranking officials reviewed the company’s combined feed processing operations.During the visit, the Minister toured the company’s modern infrastructure and reviewed its ongoing production processes. He also met with company representatives and underscored the importance of state support programs in advancing agricultural enterprises and fostering the sustainable development of the sector.
“The development of modern agro-industrial enterprises contributes to strengthening local production, advancing various sectors of agriculture, and creating new economic opportunities in the regions. The capacity of processing enterprises operating in the region enables us to make more efficient use of resources produced within the country and establish a stable supply chain,” stated Mr. David Songulashvili.
''Agro Universal Georgia'' has been a beneficiary of the Rural Development Agency since 2023. The company has received support through various state programs, with the Agency’s total co-financing amounting to GEL 1,178,833.
Specifically, under the Co-financing Project for Processing and Storage Enterprises, the company received GEL 500,000 in co-financing for the establishment of a grain processing facility. In addition, between 2023 and 2025, the company benefited from the Preferential Agrocredit Program, which supported the completion of the processing facility’s construction, the establishment of an animal and poultry feed production plant, the purchase and installation of equipment, and the development of the necessary infrastructure. The Agency’s co-financing under these components amounted to GEL 678,833.
Currently, ''Agro Universal Georgia'' has a production capacity of 6 tonnes per hour. The company’s combined feed products are sold on the local market. The enterprise provides permanent employment for 10 people.
Mr. Lasha Avaliani, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture; Mr. Giorgi Iakobashvili, Head of the National Food Agency; and representatives of the local authorities accompanied the Minister.
