David Songulashvili Visits Wheat Harvesting Process in the Shiraki Valley
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, along with the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Mr. Shalva Papuashvili, observed wheat harvesting in the Shiraki Valley, Dedoplistskaro Municipality."Our objective is to fully harness the existing potential of wheat production, enhance production efficiency, and increase the level of self-sufficiency. At the same time, we maintain close engagement with wheat farmers and, based on their needs, continue to strengthen targeted support mechanisms," said Mr David Songulashvili.
Notably, in 2025, Georgia produced 145.3 thousand tonnes of wheat, of which 116.2 thousand tonnes (approximately 80%) were produced in the Kakheti region. The average wheat yield in 2025 reached 2.9 tonnes per hectare.
The Deputies of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Members of the Parliament of Georgia, and representatives of local government accompanied the Minister.
