David Songulashvili: “Georgia has all the necessary conditions to become a supplier of premium-quality Georgian honey to international markets”
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, visited ''Apigeo'' LLC, a small honey processing enterprise supported by the Rural Development Agency in Samtredia Municipality, where he learned about the company’s production activities and capabilities.
The Minister toured the enterprise’s facilities and was introduced to the honey production and processing processes, modern technologies, and finished products.
“Beekeeping is one of the important areas of agriculture. Georgia has all the necessary conditions to become a reliable supplier of premium-quality Georgian honey to international markets. Therefore, the state supports the development of the beekeeping sector through various programmes, including the expansion of production, the adoption of modern technologies, and the enhancement of laboratory capacities,” stated Mr. David Songulashvili.
‘’Apigeo’’ LLC has an annual production capacity of 21 tonnes. The company successfully sells its products on international markets and exported honey produced in 2025 to France. The enterprise provides permanent employment for 4 people, with seasonal employment reaching 10 people.
‘’Apigeo’’ LLC is a beneficiary of the Rural Development Agency. In 2019–2021 and 2023, the company benefited from the Agency’s Preferential Agro Credit Project to establish a honey processing and storage facility.
The support programmes implemented by the Rural Development Agency contribute to the creation and development of modern agricultural enterprises, strengthening local production, increasing export potential, and creating new employment opportunities.
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Giorgi Tskrialashvili, Director of the Rural Development Agency, Mr. Zurab Gozalishvili, Head of the National Food Agency, Mr. Giorgi Iakobashvili, and representatives of local authorities accompanied the Minister.
