David Songulashvili: “Direct Communication with Farmers Is the Foundation for Effective Decision-Making and Stronger Cooperation with the Private Sector”
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. David Songulashvili, visited the “Gorduli” enterprise, producing traditional Georgian confectionery products in the village of Gordi, Khoni Municipality.
During the visit the Minister inspected the company’s infrastructure, production process, modern technologies, and finished products.
“Visiting enterprises allows us to hear directly from businesses about their needs, assess existing challenges, and tailor state support programs as closely as possible to real market demands. Such direct communication is the foundation for effective decision-making and productive cooperation with the private sector,” said Mr. David Songulashvili.
The Georgian confectionery enterprise “Gorduli” has an annual production capacity of 100 tonnes, with its products sold throughout the domestic market. The company employs 25 permanent staff members, with the workforce increasing to 50 employees during the seasonal period.
The enterprise is a beneficiary of the Rural Development Agency. In 2015, 2017–2019, and 2021–2025, the company benefited from the Preferential Agrocredit Project to establish mixed processing and storage facilities.
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Giorgi Tskrialashvili, Director of the Rural Development Agency, Mr. Zurab Gozalishvili, Head of the National Food Agency, Mr. Giorgi Iakobashvili, and representatives of the local government accompanied the Minister.
