Levan Davitashvili met with the Project Manager of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Ersin Essen
 At the meeting, the Minister underlined the importance of environmental field in Georgia and declared it as the priority issue for the country, thereby, he drew attention to the legislative initiatives developed in the new forest Code, biodiversity and water resources management. Ersin Essen made a report on the project "Sustainable Management of Land Resources". At the meeting he also focused on the condition of windbreaks and expressed his interest in progress achieved in combating the land degradation in Georgia.
The project "Sustainable Management of Land Resources" will be completed next year, although new project "Greenland.ge", which envisages introduction of sustainable management of lands in the development of the green economy will be launched by this time.
The Deputy Minister, Nino Tandilashvili attended the meeting held at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
