Deputy Minister Lasha Dolidze Meets with Sector Representatives Following the Conclusion of the Blueberry Season
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr Lasha Dolidze, hosted the blueberry producers and importers.
The meeting focused on the results of this year’s blueberry season, challenges facing the sector, and the development prospects.
Representatives of the private sector reviewed the results of the blueberry season and discussed the current situation regarding crop sales and exports, with particular attention given to the impact of climate change on crop quality, price dynamics, logistical challenges, and the importance of diversifying export markets.
According to the Deputy Minister, continuous communication and cooperation between the government and farmers are essential to ensuring the sustainable development of the sector, enabling effective responses to the needs and challenges facing the industry.
“The end of the blueberry season provides a good opportunity to summarize the results and experience gained, as well as to hear the views of farmers and sector representatives. It is essential to mention that blueberry exports increased significantly this year, with export volumes substantially exceeding last year’s figures. Going forward, meetings with sector representatives will be held regularly at the beginning of the season, throughout the season, and following its conclusion. It is important to build on the experience gained from each season to address existing challenges and create an environment for farmers to develop and expand their production. We aim to support the growth of production, improve quality, and expand export markets through continuous communication and cooperation with the sector, thereby ensuring the stable and sustainable development of the industry,” Deputy Minister, Mr Lasha Dolidze stated.
The Deputy Minister, Mr Lasha Avaliani, along with Senior Officials of the Ministry’s relevant Agencies attended the meeting.
