Minister met with the Mission Director of the USAID/Georgia Peter A. Wiebler
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili hosted the Mission Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Peter Wiebler and other representatives of the Agency. At the meeting, the participants have been focused on future cooperation issues.
Within the context of the unified management, the possibility of rapid and efficient implementation of the projects was underlined by the Minister, who thanked the Director for the support provided in the agricultural sector and stressed, that within the frame of the consolidated Ministry, the cooperation with the USAID will be further continued and will include agrarian as well as environmental projects.
The sides brought forward issues related to the development of cooperative farms in Georgia and drew their attention to the reforms implemented in the forestry sector. The importance of cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development in terms of sustainable management of waste and natural resources was also emphasized at the meeting.
Peter Wiebler made a positive evaluation of the agricultural projects implemented in Georgia
and noted, that USAID will continue to further support Georgia in the agricultural and environmental fields.
The First Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Nodar Kereselidze attended the meeting.
