The 60th anniversary of ‘’Mashav’’ to celebrate in Georgia

A reception ceremony was held at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia to celebrate the 60th anniversary of ‘’Mashav’’ - Israel’s Agency for International Development and Cooperation.
The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Nodar Kereselidze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Georgia, Shabtai Tsur and Deputy Director General of Mashav, Yuval Fuchs addressed the invited guests.
The importance of close cooperation between Georgia and Israel, support provided by ‘’Mashav’’ to Georgian farmers as well as assistance in terms of agricultural development in the country was stressed by Nodar Kereselidze at the ceremony.
A number of agricultural and educational programs have been implemented by "Mashav" in Georgia. Under the frame of "Mashav" programs, agricultural workers, farmers and entrepreneurs received necessary knowledge, which might be regarded as the basis to introduce new technologies in their country. We are mostly grateful and appreciate assistance and support provided from our Israeli friends. We are happy to celebrate this Agency’s  60th Anniversary "- Nodar Kereselidze said.
"I am glad to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of "Mashav " in Tbilisi. It is obvious, that over the last 25 years, more than 1500 professional trainers from Georgia have been trained in Israel to return to their homeland and share their experiences with others. I firmly believe, that this relationship will further strengthen ties between the two nations "- said Israeli Ambassador to Georgia, Shabtai Tsur.
The event also included a short video clip comprising of the activities implemented by Agency over the 60 years.
The Israeli Agency for International Development and Cooperation, ‘’Mashav’’ was founded in 1958 by Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Agency gave opportunities to a number of developing countries to get familiar with the experience and achievements, technologies and innovations of Israel and further use gained knowledge in their own countries. Since its establishment, ‘’Mashav’’ has trained close to 270,000 course participants from approximately 132 countries in Israel and abroad and has developed dozens of demonstration projects worldwide.
