"World Food Day" to celebrate in Tbilisi

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the Ambassadors of various countries accredited to Georgia and international organizations together with the representatives of the Georgian Government celebrated the World Food Day.
At the event, the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Nodar Kereselidze addressed to the invited guests, thereby he made a welcoming speech and thanked donor organizations for their support and active cooperation with Georgian side.
"We have been cooperating with the UN specialized agencies and organizations for many years, and together with them we are implementing a number of important programs to strengthen food security in our country. Food security is one of the top priorities for our country and I think, that coordinated cooperation in food safety / security and results achieved in this regard will be effective " said Nodar Kereselidze. It is noteworthy, that "World Food Day" is one of the most important events in the UN calendar. This day is celebrated in more than 150 countries of the world, including Georgia.
The event is hosted annually by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and FAO. The High Rank Officials sum up the results of the activities implemented within the joint projects. This year, special emphasis was made on the results of agriculture and rural development programs, animal identification and registration systems, hunt and wildlife management projects.
