Levan Davitashvili summed up the grape harvest 2018

At the briefing with the media representatives, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili summed up the grape vintage 2018. The Minister provided journalists with the measures implemented by Georgian Government over the last six years to support the development of the vineyard and wine industry in the country.
At present, more than 800 large, medium and small wine companies are registered at the National Wine Agency. In 2012, their number reached to 50. Since 2013, with the state support, 30 new enterprises have been created and about 63 have been expanded. Under the frame of the preferential agro-credit project, in the field of  wine and other alcoholic beverages  production, more than 61 million GEL was allocated for basic assets and 263 million GEL to reach a turnover since 2013 till today.
In 2017, 270 companies exported wine, while according to the data of 9 months of the current year, 260 companies have already exported their wine production.
Georgia exported 76.7 million bottles of wine to 53 countries in 2017, which is a record number in the past 30 years. About 60 million bottles of wine were exported in January-September of 2018, which equals to  13 % compared with the same period of the previous year. (in 2012, Georgia exported 23 million bottles in 42 countries).
Georgian wine was exhibited in more than 500 different international exhibitions and tasting events in various countries around the world, including EU countries, Japan, USA, China, South Korea and others. More than 100 wine tours were organized for media representatives and wine professionals.
