Georgian Olive Harvest is underway in Kakheti Region

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Yuri Nozadze attended the olive harvest in village Sakobo, Sighnaghi Municipality and got acquainted with the olive processing and manufacturing process.
Seven years ago, olive plantations were planted on 300 hectares of land, in village Sokobo. In 2016, olive processing plant was created through Dutch-Turkish investments implemented  under the frame of the "Co-financing of Agricultural Processing and Storage Enterprises’’.
"In the last 5-6 years, dozens of successful enterprises have been established within the state support programs targeted at agricultural development. The value chain refering to the full lifecycle of a product/process is underway in the enterprise, which produces primary and processed products -popular both in local and foreign markets "-said Yuri Nozadze.
The project with the total investment cost amounting to 5 million GEL was implemented by the businessman, Giorgi Svanidze.
Advanced technologies and modern standards introduced in the olive enterprise enable to produce competitive and high quality Georgian products. 
The olive oil and soap extracted by means of a cold distillation technique are regarded as main products produced by the company, which are represented on the local and international market.
The representatives of the Turkish embassy in Georgia along with the local self-government attended the olive harvest and took part in the olive picking process.
