Giorgi Khanishvili attended the presentation of the new PhD Program
At the Agrarian University of Georgia, the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Giorgi Khanishvili attended the presentation of the new Doctoral Program "Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems" (SAFS). In his welcoming speech, the Deputy Minister underlined the importance of the PhD program and stressed, that agricultural sector is in urgent need for qualified specialists.
It is worth noting, that the First International Structural PhD Program "Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems (SAFS)" will be launched through financial support of Volkswagen (VW) and Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation together with the University of Kassel(Germany).
Under the frame of the PhD program, the research will include four thematic directions
1. Sustainable Agriculture and Food Technological Innovations;
2. Climate Change Impacts on Agro-Forestry Systems;
3. Biodiversity, Conservation of Nature and Management of Natural Resources;
4. Real Prices for all Agricultural Food Production and Agricultural Urban Ties with Agro-Food SystemsÂ
The main goal of the project is to strengthen interdisciplinary research in agrarian sciences, furthermore, the project aims to help young researchers to gain knowledge based on the latest achievements, to increase existing knowledge in the field, develop new ideas or processes, as well as plan and conduct innovative research.
