Meeting was held with the President of Diary Products Cooperative in Uruguay

Under the frame of the official visit to Montevideo, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia along with the Georgian Delegation met with the President of Uruguayan Diary Cooperative ‘’CONAPROLE’’, Álvaro Ambrois.  The President underlined, that the history of ‘’CONAPROLE’’ dates back nearly 80 years and the diary cooperative, which boasts to export 80% of its production produces high quality products.
The cooperative farming in Georgia has not had a long history, although tangible results are already apparent-was noted by Levan Davitashvili. A number of state projects are successfully implemented in Georgia to develop agricultural cooperatives; According to Levan Davitashvili, livestock farming is a strong point of Uruguayan Republic and it is important to expand cooperation in livestock sector.
Important projects are planned to be implemented in Georgia to increase varietal productivity and quality of products. Strategic geographical location of Georgia, reliable conditions in the field of veterinary health care, as well as pastures and Legislative Approximation Program with the EU Legislation provides an opportunity to produce eco-friendly products and enables Georgia to make both import and export of local production, furthermore, it encourages Georgia to become a regional hub and have an access to the world's largest markets.
At the end of the meeting, the sides determined strategic goals and reaffirmed their readiness for further cooperation, they noted, that after the results achieved at the political level, the private sector will gain an opportunity for further commercial cooperation and agreed to certain terms and conditions.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Argentina to the Republic of Chile, Paraguay, Republic of Uruguay, Republic of Ecuador and the multinational state of Bolivia, Irakli Khurashvili and the Head of the National Food Agency of Georgia, Zurab Chekurashvili attended the meeting.
