Levan Davitashvili held meetings in Uruguay

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili together with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uruguay, Ariel Bergamino discussed issues of deepening economic, political and cultural relations between the two countries. The meeting was held in Montevideo, the capital and largest city of Uruguay.
The importance of deepening cooperation between the two governments, as well as creation of favorable conditions for private sector, which will enable countries to increase trade-economic relations and increase turnover between the countries – have been stressed by the participants at the meeting.
"The reliability, transparency and good relations between the countries are of utmost importance considering current challenges faced by the world. The protection of national interests in the international arena is very important for Georgia. On behalf of our Government,  I  would like to express my gratefulness for your  support in territorial integrity of our country "- stated Levan Davitashvili at the meeting.
,, Uruguay will always stand by Georgia in the international arena, taking into account the similarities between the two countries, Uruguay is actively working  on improving the legal framework between the parties, including signing of bilateral and multilateral agreements, memoranda and documents on specific projects " - said Mr. Ariel.
Uruguay is interested in implementing specific projects in the agricultural and environmental protection fields of Georgia, particularly in the field of livestock, aquaculture, wine, biodiversity and protected areas.
"We are well aware about rich traditions of Georgian winemaking and it is important to cooperate with Georgian side in this direction"- said the acting Foreign Minister.
Levan Davitashvili noted, that in the World Wine Trade Group, Georgia is the only European country, which actively cooperates with the countries of the region and this is confirmed by the fact that, Georgian representatives of state structure, as well as private sector and scientific-research circles will participate in the World Wine Congress on November, 2018, which will be held in Uruguay.
Levan Davitashvili thanked his counterpart for warm hospitality and preparation of an interesting program and expressed readiness to host Uruguay's delegation in Georgia.
