Levan Davitashvili met with the President of the Uruguay National Meat Institute

Under the official visit to Uruguay, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili met with Federico Stainham, President of the Uruguay National Meat Institute. The institute is responsible for quality control of the product, functioning of the meat traceability system and implementation of procedures subject to veterinary control of export products.
The organization incorporates several Agencies, including Uruguay Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health, Scientific Research  Center and Private Sector. "70% of the meat produced in Uruguay is exported, therefore, it is especially important for us to produce high quality products  to boost country's image and Uruguay’s products to establish a place in the world market.
We are glad that Georgia expresses interest to cooperate with our country and we are ready to actively cooperate with Georgian partners in terms of quality control of meat and meat products, "said Federico Stainham, President of the Institute.
As Levan Davitashvili stated at the meeting, Georgia is a trading hub in the region and plays a role of a gateway that enables our partners to have a simplified access to the 1/3 of world markets. According to him, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture is working on the livestock development program and aims to improve livestock paths in the fields, protect quality marks, develop quarantine points, slaughterhouses and cooperatives.
"According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, the development of green economy is of utmost importance for our country, our actions and state support projects serve this purpose" said Levan Davitashvili. To promote the trade-economic relations between the two countries, the sides agreed to prepare specific programs and projects with the involvement of the private sector.
