A new hazelnut processing plant in Samegrelo region

A new hazelnut processing plant was opened in village Ingiri, Zugdidi Municipality. The company LTD "Geo Nuts " was created and equipped with modern standards within the state program “Unified Agro-Project”. In total, GEL 2,780,000 was invested in the enterprise, out of which 600,000 GEL is grant and 1,214,000 GEL preferential agrocredit.
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davutashvili together with the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Maia Tskitishvili and Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Alexander Motseria opened the enterprise.
The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Giorgi Khanishvili, Chairman of the Agrarian Issues Committee of Parliament Otar Danelia, President of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nino Chikovani, Deputy Director of the Agriculture Projects Management Agency, Giorgi Jibladze and representatives of local self-government attended the opening ceremony of the enterprise. 100 people are employed in the hazelnut processing enterprise at present. The company annually produces 7,000-10,000 tons of various types of products – roasted kernels of hazelnuts, chopped roasted kernels / flour. The aforementioned products are intended for export. It should be noted, that "GN Company" has  received an international standard ISO: 22 000 through support of the Agricultural Projects Management Agency.
It is noteworthy, that since 2013, with the help of the state, 180 new enterprises have been financed under the "Unified AgroProject". The financial support of the state has given the entrepreneurs an additional push for further development and expansion.
The Agricultural Projects Management Agency carries out the Unified Agro Project, which is targeted on a long-term development and aims to promote the steady growth of a  high-quality production, introduction of food safety international standards, and subsequently to increase the competitiveness of the agricultural sector in Georgia.
